The Blue Lagoon is a popular stop off point on the way back to the airport. You're a fool if you don't take advantage of this opportunity. We went to the Lagoon and I've never felt so comfortable and relaxed on a long, crowded flight in my life.
I love all of the contrasts at the Blue Lagoon: the harsh, jagged rocks and the milky blue water, the cold Icelandic air and the heat of the lagoon, the sheer beauty of the lagoon and yet knowing that we have a power plant to thank for this place...
It wasn't easy standing out in the chilly air to take photos while the water kept calling me back. I forget if those are my footprints in the photo.
As I write these captions I'm dreaming of going back to the Blue Lagoon. The waters are particularly hot near that steam cloud, by the way.
We took this photo mostly for the "lava field" effect. But that's the Blue Laagoon off in the distance beckoning us.
