Unmotivatable

Unmotivatable was become my favorite word here at school. As you may remember from a recent post of mine, the warm weather at the end of last week helped my students to begin their mental check-out process. "Why do we have to work? There's only four weeks left."

Well, that very same process began for me over the weekend. Something about that extra day off for Memorial Day pretty much brings my school year to a crashing halt every year. I noticed it in myself at some point yesterday. Several times I had to remind myself that I even had school today.

And this week isn't going to make it any easier to keep in the work mode. My seniors are done and gone. I'm down to two teaching periods a day for the next four days. I can't even imagine the shock I'm going to feel next week when I have a full schedule of Juniors sitting all unmotivatable in front of me.

Oh, and I'm looking for a summer job. If you have any leads let me know. You know, I'll do anything: teaching, tutoring, being your own personal lackey. The possibilities are endless.
